UNTITLED

Stroll the streets
Of a city scattered with scars.
No sacred place left
That doesn’t still pulse with a painful past.
Lines and lies and lion sighs
Living here in trying times
Too tame to wield such wild eyes.

But where were you when our dreams died?

KINTSUGI

I held my entire universe
In a small ceramic bowl,
Every bit of who I am
And everything I know.

I brought the bowl to you
To show you what I’d found,
Your clumsy hands, you dropped it,
And it shattered on the ground.

I cut my hands on jagged shards
But I glued the pieces together,
Scooped my universe back inside
And saw it had changed for the better.

Once all the mess was cleared away,
You finally came back
But all you had to say to me,
Was that you could see the cracks.

DISTANCE

Sweet moon,
I wish you could come
A little bit closer.
Make my tide
Go wild
Let me peer
Into your craters.

But too much closer
And I might get thrown off balance,
I might spew forth lava
And boil away this healing water.
Too much closer and I might no longer
Be the thing you once admired.

But even worse for you
If you get too close,
Dear moon,
I might tear you apart.
Leave you floating around me in pieces.
A cloak of rocks to serve as a warning
For others- don’t get too close.
